The program founders of the Kawangware Community Tailoring Organization (previously Kawangware Sponsored Tailoring Project), Richard and Monica Otieno, pictured right, have independently set out to improve the lives of the children in their community and their home.
When their siblings died leaving 14 children orphaned, the Otieno’s chose to welcome the children into their home joining their own four biological children.
To meet the needs of their growing family and other orphans, the couple decided they needed to provide skills training. So, they opened a school where youth could receive training to become tailors.
