Summer Living & Giving

Summer, what a wonderful season filled with family and friends, relaxation and fun adventures. Living in Canada we are afforded the opportunities to ensure our summer and fill it with opportunities such as boating, camping, vacationing, family barbeques, friendly get-togethers. We are blessed to have the opportunity to relax and just live in the moment.

But as we relax I think of our children and I realize that it is a perfect opportunity to have a family project of a different sort, one that can pass on the blessings to other children and youth who are not afforded the same breadth of opportunities living in Kenya.

So I challenge all of the mothers, fathers, grandparents or aunts and uncles out there to help our little munchkins learn the value of giving or helping others. Make a donation to Our Kenyan Kids or a charity of your choice, after having a discussion with them  regarding the vast differences in living conditions between here in Canada and poverty stricken Kenya. Or better yet help them set up a lemonade stand, bake sale etc. and get them to donate the proceeds to children and youth in need.

The summer is a time that is a little less busy, where we can get back to the things that matter, like teaching our kids to appreciate what they have and to appreciate the art of paying it forward in a way that helps others.

Please join me in celebrating the joy of summer by working together to supporting one child at a time through a summer project in support of or a donation to Our Kenyan Kids. Let’s teach the next generation the importance of supporting others in need and the joy that comes from the experience.

God Bless,

Beth Kent
